Slip test cost: what affects the price
As a guide only, slip testing is $750 ex GST for the first test and $200 ex GST for each additional test in the same visit. The final quote depends on the site: the number of areas, wet or dry testing, access, and travel or location.
What the guide covers
The figures above are a guide, not a fixed price for every job. They describe a typical on-site visit: wet pendulum testing of existing floors in situ to AS 4663:2013, and a written slip resistance test report. AS 4663:2013 is the method for measuring slip resistance of existing pedestrian surfaces in situ. AS 4586:2013 classifies new pedestrian surface materials, including P ratings from the wet pendulum test.

What changes the quote
Number of areas and surfaces
Each distinct floor area is a test. A single foyer is one test. An entry, a ramp, a kitchen and a change room are four. Different surfaces in the same room are usually separate tests because they need their own readings and their own line in the report.
Wet and dry testing
Floors that can get wet in service are measured with the wet pendulum. Routes that stay dry can also need the dry floor friction method. Asking for both on the same visit is common and is scoped as extra tests, not a different product.
Site access and after-hours work
A clear floor during ordinary hours is simpler than a trading supermarket after close, a hospital ward, or a site that needs induction and escorts. After-hours visits are quoted once we know when the floor can be closed for the test.
Location
Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane metropolitan sites are the usual coverage. Slip testing in Perth by arrangement is quoted per job. Regional New South Wales is quoted on request from Sydney. Travel time and how the visit sits with other work in the same city both affect the figure.
Report scope
A standard visit includes a written slip resistance test report for every tested area: readings, class, and the handbook target for that location type. A larger pack, photographs tied to a claim file, or extra copies for an insurer or solicitor can widen the scope. The output is a test report, not a certificate.
Retests and portfolio programs
A retest after cleaning or treatment is a separate visit, usually with fewer locations. Ongoing national slip testing programs are scoped and quoted per site, which is often a better fit than paying visit by visit. After a slip-and-fall, see slip testing after an incident.

- City or suburb, and how many sites
- The areas you want tested
- Whether the floor can get wet in service
- Access hours and any induction
- Whether this is a one-off, a retest or a program
Slip test cost questions
How much does a slip test cost?
As a guide only, slip testing is $750 ex GST for the first test and $200 ex GST for each additional test in the same visit. The final quote depends on the site: the number of areas, wet or dry testing, access, and travel or location.
Why does the first test cost more than the next ones?
The first test in a visit carries the travel, set-up, photographs and the written slip resistance test report. Each extra test in the same visit is another location on a floor that is already being measured.
Does location change the quote?
Yes. Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane metropolitan sites are the usual coverage. Slip testing in Perth by arrangement is quoted per job. Regional New South Wales is quoted on request from Sydney. After-hours access and harder site entry also change the quote.
Can I get a quote for a program, not a single visit?
Yes. Portfolio programs are scoped and quoted per site, including scheduled rounds and retests. Send the sites through the enquiry form or call 1300 207 915.
